Two of the finalists for this year's Prometheus Awards, given out by the Libertarian Futurist Society, are Cory Doctorow and Jo Walton for, respectively, their novels Little Brother and Half a Crown.
The winners will be announced at Anticipation, the Worldcon in Montreal, in August.
Cory Doctorow's YA novel Little Brother (Tor Teen; HarperVoyager UK) is on the ballot for the 2009 Hugo Awards.
In other Hugo news related to Canadian authors, the novella "True Names" by Benjamin Rosenbaum & Cory Doctorow (Fast Forward 2) is also on the ballot, as is James Alan Gardner's novelette "The Ray-Gun: A Love Story" (Asimov's, February 2008).

Cory Doctorow's YA novel Little Brother (Tor) and James Alan Gardner's novelette "The Ray-Gun: A Love Story" (Asimov's, Feb. 2008) have made it to the Nebula Awards final ballot.
The Nebulas will be presented on the weekend of April 24 to 26 in Los Angeles.
Guy Gavriel Kay has won the 2009 World Fantasy Award in the Novel category for Ysabel (Viking Canada/Penguin Roc). The awards ceremony took place on November 2nd in Calgary.

Heinlein Award, given to recognize outstanding published works in science fiction and technical writings to inspire the human exploration of space, are Spider Robinson and Ben Bova. Jo Walton's novel Ha'penny (Tor) has co-won a Prometheus Award (with Harry Turtledove's The Gladiator) for Best Novel from the Libertarian Futurist Society.
On June 21st, Cory Doctorow won a 2008 Locus Award for his novella "After the Siege."
The Locus Awards are voted by readers of Locus Magazine in an annual poll.
