2026 Sunburst Longlist Revealed

The Sunburst Award Society is pleased to announce the longlist for the 2026 Award.

Marshall, Helen — The Lady, the Tiger and the Girl Who Loved Death (Titan)
Moreno-Garcia, Silvia — The Bewitching (Del Rey)
Nolan, Mackenzie — Veal (ECW Press)
Paxman, Emily — Death on the Caldera (Titan)
Welsh, Tim — Ley Lines (Guernica Editions)

The jurors for the 2026 Award are distinguished authors A.G. Pasquella, Daniel Perry, and A.C. Wise.

Over 100 books were submitted for consideration for the award.

Since its inception in 2001, the Sunburst Award for Excellence in Canadian Literature of the Fantastic is has recognized over 225 works of Canadian speculative literature and honoured deserving books through its prestigious awards program.

The Sunburst Award shortlist will be announced in June. The winner of the $3,000 award will be announced in the fall.
